Stephanie Stallings has dedicated her career to supporting interdisciplinary artists and artistic communities. For over fifteen years she has focused on developing thoughtful programs that deepen engagement with the community while centering art and music.

Stephanie assumed her current position as Executive Director of the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra in February 2022 as the organization embarked on a new strategic plan to rebuild and enhance audience and community engagement after Covid-19. Audience-building initiatives in the first year of her leadership resulted in a 160% increase in first-time attendee retention, a 40% growth in subscriptions, and the implementation of Carnegie Hall’s Lullaby Project. Previously, she was Managing Director of Emerging Arts Leaders/Los Angeles and Research and Evaluation Associate at the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. She has also led research and administrative projects for Mexico City USA, Oxford University Press, the Folger Shakespeare Library, Northern Arizona University, and Interference Series (Flagstaff, AZ). Stephanie has taught and lectured about music history, arts engagement and community building, cultural policy, and resource development at Claremont Graduate University, Florida State University, George Washington University, and Northern Arizona University.

Originally from Rock Hill, South Carolina, Stephanie earned a Bachelor of Music in piano performance from Furman University and a Ph.D. in musicology from Florida State University. She has published book chapters, articles, and reviews with Princeton University Press, Editorial El Colegio Nacional (Mexico City), the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, the Journal of the American Musicological Society, ARSC Journal, and the Tafter Journal on Cultural Policy.
